A disability is defined as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. This includes individuals with a history of such an impairment or those perceived to have such an impairment.
The college reviews your request form, medical documentation, and any other relevant information to determine accommodations that address the functional limitations of your disability.
No, all information provided to Disability Services is confidential and does not appear on academic records or transcripts.
If you disagree with an accommodation decision, contact Disability Services to discuss your concerns and seek a resolution.
Conditions that are minor and temporary, such as a cold or the flu, do not qualify as disabilities. However, severe short-term impairments may be eligible for accommodations.
Starting fall 2025, once accommodations are approved, students will receive their academic accommodation letters via email, and these letters will also be automatically sent to their faculty members each semester. There will be no need for students to renew accommodations. Housing accommodations are not eligible for auto renewal.
Faculty members should contact Disability Services to consult with DS Staff if they have questions or concerns about implementing specific accommodations.
The college upholds strict confidentiality policies to protect disability-related information, ensuring it is shared only with authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis. All Disability Services records are securely stored in restricted-access software, available only to designated staff. Accommodation letters provided to faculty include only the approved accommodations and do not disclose the student's disability.
Disability Services offers both walk-in office hours and scheduled meetings, available via Zoom or in person.
πWalk-in hours are for quick 15-minute check-ins, accommodation intake meetings must be scheduled separately.
All other meetings are available by appointment only.
